about.
Soprano Danielle Kamilah fell in love with opera in the birthplace of Steelpan and Calypso, Trinidad and Tobago. After completing her B.Sc. in Biochemistry and Nutritional Sciences, she worked in Public Health Research, Biomedical Sales and Marketing while performing in operas and televised galas.
With a voice described as ‘rich and sumptuous with an expansive range’, Danielle has performed the roles of Cosette (Les Misèrables) and Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus). After completing her Artist Diploma at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, Danielle trained at the Kapellsberg Opera Studio in Sweden.
Now based in Manchester, Danielle Kamilah Williams completed a Masters in Performance with distinction at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying with Michael Harper and Hilary Summers. She is now studying for a Postgraduate Diploma with Michael Harper. Danielle is passionate about exploring the intersection between health science and music. Determined to see the Caribbean ethos, instruments, and stories reflected more in art music, she arranges for Steelband and philharmonic orchestras and composes.
Danielle is grateful to the José and Rafton Smallwood Award, the Lady Maria Fisher Opera Scholarship, and an anonymous donor for supporting her master's studies. Along with the Ann Gerrard Bursary and an anonymous donor for supporting her Postgraduate Diploma studies. Danielle was previously awarded the Neil Latchman Bursary.
Danielle made her UK recital debut at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester as part of the Streetwise Opera Re:Discover festival in June 2024. And her European recital debut in September 2024 in Stuttgart with the International Hugo Wolf Akademie. She has also performed in France, Italy, & Sweden.
